JTIS

I am part of a sewing group that has been meeting for over 2 years. We are in our third in other words! We call it Journey Together In Stitches. We meet about once a month for 4 hours. We pack a brown bag lunch. During our time together we crochet, knit, cross stitch, and even work with wool and felting. Besides sewing, we are often 'in stitches' with laughter at the struggles and foibles we share in common. The jokes begin flying and the laughter rolls around the room.

JTIS has been a source of inspiration, confession, fellowship, friendship, challenge and blessing. This group began when a sprinkling of Cincinnati Associates at the Convent of the Transfiguration had a mutual longing for more camaraderie. We decided to meet for 3 months and see what developed. After 2 months someone asked why we had only planned this for 3 times? Thus was born a group that has given the women involved a sense of belonging and support that we find nowhere else!

Some of us make prayer shawls for the Sisters to pass along to those who are ill or in distress. We have some really dedicated knitters who make baby hats for various ministries around the city. One lady is dedicated to blankets for children who are in the court system and in need of advocacy. And there is always help for crochet or knitting 'how-tos.'

Each month we share a short devotional and the topic is always timely in various ways. There is no telling how the Holy Spirit will work each month. From our sharing we find ways to pray for one another. The Sisters of the Transfiguration very generously provide a place for us to meet complete with tea and coffee. They are a blessing to us in so many ways.

I pray you have a group of believers in more than one place in your life to support you in your Journey with Christ. If you don't have that, then pray about starting a group and watch the Lord use it to His glory.
